The Camden Theatre was built in the late 1890s as a live theatre venue. Motion pictures were first exhibited at the Camden in the 1910s. The venue had a Moller theatre pipe organ installed in 1915, and the organ was upgraded to a newer Moller model in 1925. Unfortunately, the Camden Theatre was destroyed by fire in 1929.

The Parkersburg Art Center was built on the former site of the Camden Theatre.
