Why Girls Say
No

(1927)

This Hal Roach comedy, directed by Leo McCarey, stars Marjorie Daw and Creighton Hale, with Max Davidson, Ann Brody, Spec O’Donnell, Oliver Hardy, Jesse De Vorska and Noah Young.

The cake-cutting scene is hilarious.

Ratings (1-10): video: 8 / audio: 8 / additional content: 8 / overall: 8.

This PAL DVD edition has been produced by Filmmuseum München under the supervision of Stefan Drössler. The source material is an excellent but incomplete 35mm duplicate print, with some footage inserted from a very-good 16mm duplicate reduction negative. The picture is generally excellent with light dust and speckling, some emulsion scrapes and scuffing, and other minor flaws.

The film is presented with an improvised music score performed by Joachim Bärenz and Christian Roderburg.

We enthusiastically recommend this home video edition of the film. North American collectors will need a region-free PAL DVD player capable of outputting an NTSC-compatible signal to view this edition.
