This combined book/DVD edition has been mastered from an archival 35mm print held by the China Film Archive, Beijing. The DVD is packaged with a biography of actress Renmei Wang by Professor Richard J. Meyer and is not available separately. The source material is lightly flecked with dust, speckling, emulsion scrapes and chips, frame jitters and other mild issues.

The film is accompanied by a music score composed and performed on piano by Donald Sosin. Another pleasing performance that serves the film well.
